Are you a dedicated Health and Safety professional with a passion for creating safer working environments? I am working with a Tunnelling and Mining Contractor who is seeking a Health and Safety Manager to join their dynamic team. Specializing in tunnelling and mining, they are committed to ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance on all our projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures tailored to tunnelling and mining activities.
• Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure compliance with industry standards and legislation.
• Provide expert guidance on tunnel-specific safety requirements, including TSTS (Tunnel Safety Training Scheme), TEEP (Tunnel Entry and Emergency Procedures), and Confined Space regulations.
• Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to staff, ensuring all team members understand and adhere to best practices.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, providing detailed reports and implementing corrective actions.
• Liaise with project managers, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure all safety requirements are met.
• Stay updated on industry developments and emerging safety practices.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

• Proven experience in a Health and Safety role within the construction, tunnelling, or mining sectors.
• In-depth knowledge of tunnel-specific qualifications and safety protocols, including TSTS, TEEP, and Confined Space entry.
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Strong understanding of current health and safety legislation and industry standards.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and motivate others.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Chartered Membership of IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) or working towards it.
• Experience in implementing innovative safety solutions in challenging environments.
